This is actually slightly old work, but as this is supposed to be half blog and half portfolio I wanted to have a little more of my 3D work up here. This goblin was an exercise to teach myself ZBrush at the end of last year and it was pretty successful if I say so myself. There’s something incredibly rewarding about being able to physically sculpt a 3D model rather than having to slowly build it from polygons. The only difficulty now is to decide whether to practice painting or 3D.

Painting that eyeball yesterday inspired me to try and create the matching eye in Maya. It’s only a simple model and perhaps a little bit too textured, but I learned a lot about texture painting and shader networks that I didn’t know before. Fun!
